Not Feeling Your Best? The Culprit Might be Low Testosterone

Let’s explore How Low Testosterone Can Affect You.  When we were kids, we always woke up full of energy ready to face the day. As we get older often that means less and less energy. We may feel sluggish, tired, worn down – even when we get enough sleep.

It can be perplexing. We eat right, exercise, drink water, do every darn thing we are told we need to do and yet we feel – just blah. You can do everything in the world right – not drink, not smoke, take your vitamins, but if your hormones are off, you still won’t feel your best.

That is why hormone testing is so important after the age of 40 for most, but you may begin to feel this decline as early as 30. If you do – don’t let the numbers dissuade you, a simple blood test can reveal a lot.

Yearly Routine Blood Tests Are Not Enough

When you go visit your primary physician for your yearly exam, he or she may run a CBC (Complete blood count) as well as other standard panels. They most often do not include hormones. You may specifically ask for them to be tested, however, many doctors do not specialize in hormone regulation, and worse, often if they do agree to run them, they simply go by the suggested lab ranges and disregard how you feel if your result comes back within the acceptable range.

The Mistake Most Providers Make

There is nothing worse that can be done than to look at a lab range and in turn, ignore symptoms that are present in a patient and dismiss them. We see this time and time again in our patients here at Vitality Health of South Florida. Many patients get their results back and their doctor tells them “You are fine”. End of discussion.

A level that is “fine” for one person may not be for another. An acceptable range is just that – a range. It’s a reference guide. For ideal health, it needs to be determined where feeling your best and where that number intersects. A diagnosis of “Low Tee” (Low Testosterone) is the case for many many men and when properly supplemented it can make a world of difference in their quality of life. It is important to note that this can be the case for women as well!
